If you’re lucky enough to get the chance to spend time in Metro Phoenix, which includes Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa, Glendale, Chandler, Gilbert and other communities, welcome to awesome weather. Perfect, in fact, for hiking adventures.
While any time of year is hiking weather in Phoenix and Scottsdale as far as we are concerned, November through February are especially nice. Cooler temps and winter sunshine can’t be beat.
The Phoenix and Scottsdale areas chill down to the mid-60s and 70s, creating a perfect atmosphere for getting out into the Sonoran Desert for adventure hiking and trekking. Winter in Phoenix and Scottsdale lasts for about three months from the third week in November to the last week in February in which the average daily high is below 74 degrees Fahrenheit. The chilliest day of the year on average is Dec. 27 with a high temp that averages 65 degrees and a low of 45 degrees.
Our advice? Wear layers and pack a light jacket for the early morning hours and just in case in gets a bit cooler towards evening.
